Any recommendations for Vienna?
I have a shortlist and we’re planning to avoid Michelin Stars in favour of more traditional Austrian options.
I’ve also noticed that a chain of wine shops is included in the offer, with multiple shops in the city. It’s called Wein & Co. I imagine one could just buy some wine?
I’m booked for Tien in May. Very much looking forward to it. High veggie cuisine.
I used my 2022 credit in Vienna. There’s 4 sister restaurants all in a cluster on the same street; we ate in two of them.
da Max – huth Brauwirtschaft
Huth da Moritz
Obvs you should check they’re still in the list. The other sister restaurants are:
Mama and der Bulle
Huth Gastwirtschaft
Used it at Shiki (Japanese restaurant) back in 2022. So not quite a traditional Austrian option but it was very good.
We went to Joma in Hohenmarkt. Kind of a ‘business lunch’ place – but plenty of Austrian options and the service was good.
Strongly recommend JOLA. It’s a vegan restaurant, but we didn’t realise when we booked. Some of the best food we’ve had in years. And much more affordable than most of the Amex Plat options in Vienna.
Thank you all for your posts.
In the end we’ve picked 3 places from the Platinum Dining list.
1. Heunisch & Erben (https://www.heunisch.at/en – big gourmand with creative food and a great wine list)
2. Klee am Hanslteich (https://www.klee.wien – gorgeous lakeside setting)
3. Huth Gastwirtschaft (https://www.huth-gastwirtschaft.at – classic Austrian dishes in a contemporary setting)
We have £150 x 2. We might end up going over budget!
We are also planning on having a meal at Zu den drei Hacken and the iconic Cafe Central.
We went to Mama and der Bulle which is part of the Huth group and next door to Huth Gastwirtschaft. It was a perfectly fine casual Steak restraunt. Probably regretted not going for their Austrian restaurant.
That was combined with a meal in an Italian chain called L’Osteria. Wasn’t great but wasn’t expecting much either.
We also had coffee and cake at Cafe Museum.
I’m in Austria quite a bit so I’ve used my dining benefit there twice.
I see Klee is on your shortlist. We used ours there once, it was very nice and would definitely recommend.
The other place we’ve used ours was Spelunke – nothing special, but it was a nice evening and a nice meal.
Café Landtmann is also an option if you have something left over. Even a takeaway purchase of pastry etc from the counter at the entrance triggers the credit.
Anyone been to Vienna recently and used this credit? Wondering what recent experiences people have had, and where might be good to visit.
We went to Spelunke on Saturday. Credit has not arrived yet (and no email) not that special but good option if you don’t want to go way over the £150. And it turns out chips in Vienna = crisps in UK.
Thanks, @Reney.
Timely that Rob posted Tim’s Amex Dining Map today, which is also super useful.
Just reviving this topic for any recent feedback from Vienna, please.
Narrowed it down to 4 restaurants on the dining credit list. Hoping to visit 2 of the 4 (will have two credits to use). Looking for something child friendly (will actually be my daughter’s 5th birthday on one of the dates).
– Bar Campari / Huth da Moritz
And
– JOMA / Sperling im Augarten

Huth da Moritz was very good and so reasonably priced
Great, thanks @BWS, that’s the one I was leaning to, too, of those two! 🙂

check the new AMEX Plat dining list that it’s still on it.. things seem to have changed a lot across Europe and elsewhere…

Thanks, yes I had checked that they were still on the list. I’ve noticed a few new restaurants have been added but many countries have disappeared altogether! Still disappointed by the complete lack of anything in the Middle East.
The Middle East though is dominated by hotel restaurants and they run their own discounts. The IHG 30% off was still running as of December for example.
