I’ve just hit the £10k spend on the plus card. How quickly is the upgrade voucher generated? Is it on next statement date?
I intend to use to upgrade from PE to UC. I know you need UC reward availability to do book. Do you need to book it first in PE and then call to upgrade or can it all be done at once either online or by phone?
thanks!
The voucher usually gets issued pretty quickly. I don’t think you have to wait until the statement date.
Check the Virgin Red app (not virgin Atlantic app)- it shows in the points activity there.
As for booking – has to be phone or whatsapp I think.
You do not need to book in PE first, and do not even need availability in PE – just Upper.
Do it all on the phone is the best way, call at 7am (several success stories in chat if calling early).
Or you can use Whatsapp but it will take longer and risk of someone nabbing the reward seat in that time.
I agree – I rang at 7.00am and got straight through. This will be my first flight with Virgin and I`m travelling alone on an Airbus A330-300. Should I reserve seat 1A or is it more complicated than that? Thank you.

Any column ‘A’ seat is a good choice, due to the dividing wall between that column and the others.
Whether front (1A) back (10A) or middle just depends on whether you want serving first, near the bar, or maximum peace.
Is there a way to track how much you need to spend to hit the 10k target? I know you can see this on the Amex statements but doesn’t seem to be anything on the Virgin statements.
Is it possible to use a voucher from my account when I have booked for someone else using points or cash?

Just got to load each statement and add up the totals. For total assurance subtract the card fee, and anything that you think you may end up getting refunded before your 10k target date.

Does the card fee not qualify for points towards the target? As its a line on the bill?

I’d like to know the answer to this one too. I seem to recall reading that it might be possible to use these Virgin credit card vouchers to upgrade someone else, but not as a 2-for-1 – does that sound at all possible?

I do not know and will never find out, as it is not worth cutting it that fine for the sake of £160 – I just go comfortably over.

Yes you can use it as upgrade voucher for someone else. It used to be Companion voucher only if cardholder is travelling. However read recent changes re ability to gift vouchers (not sure if linked to Flying Club status) so in theory one should be able to dictate whether gifting as 2-4-1 or upgrade voucher.
