Booking with points – LHR to SFO. April 2026

Virgin have moved my flight forward 6 hours, meaning my separate cash connection to LAS Vegas is now not going to work.

Will Virgin allow me to change the final destination from SFO to LAS without any charge or points increase because they have moved the original flight?

If not, will they compensate me for the cost of changing the separate cash booking

Firstly you need to tell us if this is within 14 days of departure otherwise we can’t provide a valid answer.

Secondly have you tried calling and asking?

It’s over 14 days. I’m currently not in the UK so calling and waiting on hold for ages is not my first thought. I thought some people may be kind enough on here to have experienced this situation and to share their info.

If it’s over 14 days then you have no real rights as Virgin only consider changes over 12 hours as significant – MSE covers this https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-changes/

You may find them sympathetic if you call. Your onward flight on a different ticket isn’t any of their concern.

In my experience VS are helpful if they can be. I had a ticket where the onward leg from JFK to Richmond, VA was stuffed because Delta changed the last flight of the day to a departure time which was earlier than the arrival of my inbound. VS allowed me to change the end point to Norfolk instead.

Since it’s over 14 days can you wait until you get home and then call. That’s the only real advice anyone can give you.
