Hi All
My parents have tasked me with finding flights in Jan/Feb next year to Mumbai
Despite finding some excellent fares in J on Etihad for around £1900 return
They’re happy with PE with Virgin, which works out around £900
They have the Free Virgin Atlantic Card and Barclaycard Avios Plus Card, as far as I can work out
You would still get more Avios than Virgin Points as the taxes work out at around £560 by paying with the Barclaycard
So you would get 1185 Virgin Points (0.75 x 900 + 1.5 x 340) vs. 1350 Avios per person
Unless I’m missing something here despite it being a flight with Virgin Atlantic ?
VA fly both the 787 and A350, is there any big difference in the PE Seat on the plane types ?
I know the configuration is slightly different with 2-3-2 vs. 2-4-2
But I believe the A350 are newer
Obviously the A350 is better as the 787 is old and A350 is quieter and smoother.
But beware that VS can change the aircraft even at the last minute, so it’s not guaranteed even if you book the A350.
The A350 and B787 are both relatively quiet and comfortable aircraft (compared to 777 which is the long haul workhorse for most airlines).
I’d take PE direct over J with a connection in the middle of the flight on a route like UK – India.
Etihad operates a wide variety of aircraft on the route to india, including some I’d avoid for comfort reasons.
