Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Virgin to Hilton transfer timing

    Hi

Since it’s a question which comes up semi-frequently, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to share intel about how long Virgin to Hilton transfers are taking.

My most recent transfer took 13 days (arrived within the last week.)

Asked for a transfer on the 17th, points arrived today.

Back in February, I rang Virgin Flying Club to arrange transfer of 10,000 points (the minimum) to Hilton. The points immediately disappeared from my Flying Club account but, three months later, had not shown up at Hilton.

I rang the Club again, who said I would need to raise it with Hilton, which I did. Hilton Missing Points rang me back from the Philippines. They had not heard of Virgin Atlantic but were familiar with inward reward transfers from American Express. While they can trace points missing from Hilton Hotel stays, they are not equipped to trace points which never arrived from outside.

Again I rang the Flying Club: in the evenings this takes +/- one hour each time (much quicker during the day). They said it is extremely unusual for transfers to disappear, especially as there was absolutely no discrepancy in my name details, Honors account name/number, e-mail and home address, etc. The Team would investigate. Sure enough, next day, the transfer showed up as 15,000 Honors.

A couple of e-mail addresses exist for the flying club, but they do not work. So I wrote by post to the Crawley address outlining the hoops I had jumped through, and the 3 hours spent (backed by a print-out of my calls to their number). I stressed that, with Hilton peak pricing, I had paid about 8,000 points more for my room (booking now for early June) than if I had booked in March, when these points were originally due to appear. After about a week, Virgin Flying Club rang me and agreed to credit my Club account with a further 10,000 points, and I feel well compensated (it takes me a year to 18 months to earn them by credit card spend + Virgin Red bonuses).

Fingers crossed now for the next 10,000 transfer.
