Waiting for voucher before cancellation

Hi,

I hit the target for the voucher a while back but it still hasn’t hit my account. Was thinking of cancelling my card at the end of the month (renewal is beginning of May) but does that mean i won’t receive the voucher ?

Where have you looked? It only appears as a brief one-line entry in your account activity so it’s easy to miss. It can also appear before you were actually expecting it, so have a look back over your card year.

I looked yesterday online after the HfP article. Apparently you can now check them (but not use). The one last year came in May 2nd from what I can see so think I’ll need to pay the fee again to have the voucher which sucks !!!

When were you expecting the voucher? It should be issued when you hit the £10k spend, this has happened with 2 out of 3 for me, but the most recent one landed with at the start of the card year for some reason.

I think they always landed when my card is supposed to be renewed – way after I hit the target. Maybe they changed their ways as a way to lock people in ?

My understanding is that they should be issued once you spend the £10k, it seems to be the HFP norm anyway. It’s the card fee which causes some angst here, as it’s often charged very early and catches out people who were considering cancelling. It sounds like there’s some sort of glitch with your account, but from what other readers have said, it’s often quite difficult to get Virgin to sort out this kind of thing.

But if they’ve changed the way they issue the vouchers, they’ve given me mine a year early!

Mine just landed in account today, looks like it was ‘processed’ 2 days ago, which in turn was 5 days after spend target was passed.
Renewal for me is early May so in my case it hasn’t been held until the start of my new year – nor have I yet seen the annual fee appearing!

I didn’t realise the last one had been issued until after I’d spent £10k and was wondering where it was. It’s now got about 4 months’ less validity than I’d planned, which is a pain.

If I spend £20k in a card year will I earn 2 vouchers on the Premier card? If so, are they triggered at each £10k or appear at card renewal when next annual card fee is due?

No, 1 voucher per card per year. You could get the free card as well though, and get a voucher on that one for £20k spend, in addition to the one for £10k spend on the premium card
