Hi
What is happening with the taxes on BA redemptions?
For example I was looking at US flights last few days and redemption was 35k one way +£75 or PE 67.5k +£165 and Club World 100k + £225.
This morning econ is £196, PE £379 and CW £469.
Hope I didn’t miss a big change effective 1 May 🙁
Er, nothing?
You are not an active Avios collector, you haven’t earned or spent an Avios in the last 12 months, and you no longer qualify for the reduced taxes and charges.
Hi Rob
I wasnt aware that there was a condition for the cheaper rate….but I have the Barclays Premier Account, and Barclaycard Visa all active monthly and have deposited lots of AVIOS in the last 12months.
I also just checked and the more expensive taxes are showing on both my avios and my partners (also an active account).
So rates should still be Econ 35+£75 Club Worl 100k + £225?
Thanks
Mark
I’m getting strange reward prices too. What’s happened to £17.50pp???
TFS to LGW

You can select when paying
14500 Avios + £ 38.18
11750 Avios + £ 48.18
10750 Avios + £ 53.18
7250 Avios + £ 93.18
4750 Avios + £ 103.18
It sounds like there’s been a lot of BA IT weirdness recently, especially around booking award flights. You can either call and see if an agent can get the correct pricing, or if you’re not in a rush, hang on a day or two and see if it rights itself.
@Mark, is that for economy or CE? What is the initial pricing?
Yep, big change, LHR-JFK,
off peak
20750 Avios + £ 283.89
42500 Avios + £ 443.64
80000 Avios + £ 478.14
peak
30000 Avios + £ 194.14
60000 Avios + £ 357.64
90000 Avios + £ 478.14
@davefl – that looks like RFS avios pricing but more like the old-style surcharges. Hopefully a glitch!

I’m seeing 90,000 + £175 peak, J, LHR-jfk
Total shambles just like the Avis inconsistencies I posted yesterday
I think there are big IT issue at present, Monday I logged in to my account and husbands points showed (different emails and passwords), bit of a worry as he has 200,000 less points than me. Last night I wanted to boost some Avios and I tried all over my BAEC account, putting balance boost into the search engine etc and I couldn’t bring it up at all. Perhaps they are enhancing the site.
Seems to be showing the correct taxes now, but the seats have now gone!! Grrrrr
The seats may well never have been there if there’s a big IT glitch going on. TFS usually has pretty good availability so I’d keep an eye on it.
I think this issue has now been corrected. Looking at LON-WAW the £17.50 is back. The following options appear. The same in the other direction WAW-LON.
11750 Avios + £ 0.50
11000 Avios + £ 4.50
9750 Avios + £ 10.00
7250 Avios + £ 17.50
4650 Avios + £ 35.00
2900 Avios + £ 45.00
Confirmed.
LHR-JFKoff peak back to
25000 Avios + £ 50.00
42500 Avios + £ 140.00
80000 Avios + £ 175.00
Phew – been in meetings and missed all the replies….but mine is now also showing the reduced rates.
Ive been trying to make my mind up for days so would have been gutted to miss the cheaper taxes
