Has anyone checked the dynamic pricing vs cash prices, and is there a fixed value per point?
If so, how does it compare to cash plus points bookings?
Bet the computers/calculators at HFP towers are red hot and possibly the only good news is Rob has articles for the next month!
here’s a route I’m looking at LHR -SFO in Upper for recently released seats (ie Sep 2025)
Old £1k + 155k points or voucher +65k
now
saver fare £1k + 417.5k points or voucher + 352.5k
cash fare is now £2784
so thats 417.5k points to save £1.7k ! and thats on a SAVER fare and for a voucher holder my points are now worth one seventh of their value yesterdayBet the computers/calculators at HFP towers are red hot and possibly the only good news is Rob has articles for the next month!

I can see some improvements with taxes. Looking at London-Washington:
Outbound:
Y was £213 now £202
PE was £394 now £394 (same)
J was £625 now £448Inbound:
Y was $153 now $73
PE was $418 now $183
J was $1027 now $481 (sometimes $255)So a number of decreases, especially significant in J. However, these need to be offset by the change in miles which were previously fixed but are now dynamic. The saver fares which I’ve seen as low as 6k miles in Y and 29k in J offer some significant savings….but there are significant increses in miles required which are not offset by the lower taxes.
For someone who booked last-minute seats that appeared for redemption close to departure, these were good value at a fixed price but they look to be much more expensive now.
There is some value to be had with the new pricing but from my limited assessment, there’s definitely a increase in costs now compared to the previous scheme.
Saver is capped at the old peak rates so 417k can’t be a saver fare
I’ve only just started purposefully collecting virgin points to help with the cost of flights during school holidays to Orlando. Looks like I needn’t have bothered 😂 I may still try and get companion vouchers
They are not worthless. You can always use them for Greggs sausages 🤪
They can also be used to pay for the hotel in Orlando (IHG or Hilton).
Booked my flights yesterday, 50,000 + £526 for 2 of us MAN – MCO
Only 30,000 + £486 for them today
Got onto live chat they are refunding me the differenceBooked my flights yesterday, 50,000 + £526 for 2 of us MAN – MCO

Silly things going on.

thanks, so past peak season. Does appear that there will be some winners from these changes.
Didn’t manage to call in this afternoon to use a voucher to upgrade my booking, and now an annoying message on the Gold Member Customer Service line is talking about 90 minute waits. Aaaargghhh!
For my dates the delta between the new U/C points price and the new P/E points price is, ta da! 151000 Pts, but it is 172500 between yesterdays P/E points price and today’s U/C points price so I don’t know if I’m potentially on the hook for an additional 1000 Pts or for 22500 after deducting 150000 for the voucher?
Hopefully I can get hold of someone before the 24-hour cooling-off period is up in case the whole exercise is no longer worth it then I can cancel without the £30 fee and book elsewhere.
This game is dead!! As is any reason to fly Virgin or hold the VS credit card
This game is dead for those who want to travel during school holidays!! – ftfy.
I checked for September and it’s still so much higher than before.
Think we will be moving to a new airline or stopping altogether
Silly things going on.

silly as virgin will sell you cash seats for ~£3,200 in economy. So asking for £990 and 650,000 miles is madness.

Exo vs premium vs upper doesn’t look crazy to you.
How are they deciding on the cash proportion? Seems not only the points is dynamic but the YQ is too.
All very odd.
Will they still want 50% extra points for a 241 in UC? That would really be adding insult to injury!
No. The restriction now for Red members is the 75,000 point value limit on the voucher (as opposed to 150,000 for Silver or Gold). Of course that could mean you’re paying a lot more than 50%, though saver tickets may be less (and nothing in some cases).
Well that’s one positive for Red members, especially those with a degree of flexibility.

Agreed – we booked a speculative LHR-LAS UC return a couple of days ago for 12th-23rd Sept 25, so not a peak period of demand I’d imagine. Was 270k for two plus £2,082 TFCs. Today VS want 960k + the same TFCs – Ouch! ><

Which means boomers and gen x will benefit at the cost of younger generations!
Is there no limit to the generational inequality! 🤪
