Hi,
I have mostly used my avios points over the years to fly other One World airlines for regional business class fares in Asia, South America, or European short haul economy stuff.
My partner now has a premium companion voucher and I started to have a look around for flights. I was looking at Cape Town and although I found avalibility and it was less avios than I expected, The taxes are just under £1500 for two.
Im sure it never used to be £750 each.. Has this gone up recently? Are the long haul taxes affected by distance traveled?
I flew first out of Heathrow back in 2017 and im sure the taxes were only about £500.
Yes, a few jumps, but UK has always been the most expensive…

Correct. In 2017 it was about £500 per person. They’ve been creeping up, but this year they’ve shot up about £100 per person it seems. Maybe linked with oil prices, maybe just BA getting away with what they can.
