Interested to know if they release intra Asia J availability at a certain point as I can’t see anything at all to book currently for February. Specifically routing NRT > BKK
JAL have released J seats but ANA have not. Just wonderd if i’m wasting my time waiting?
Many thanks.
You’re wasting your time with Virgin points as ANA awards are released first to Star Alliance at 355 days with extra awards available to ANA Mileage Club members. Virgin is the last at 330 days. Sometimes ANA releases awards last minute about 2 weeks before, but very rarely.
For February 2023 you should have looked in the Spring this year as there were many awards available for a lot of routes.
Stick an alert on your favourite redemption tracker for the bucket and route you’re interested in. In the meantime, see if you can snag any via *A – UA do *G from BA trials, meaning you end up in Premier Platinum, which seems to open up some more availability.
forgive me, what the translation in lay terms : ) …..”*A – UA do *G from BA trials”
@Ash, translatesvto United Airlines sometimes do Gold status match from BA Gold to United Mileage Plus. Opens up more oprions to ANA rewards.
@OP, if you are happy to pay cash a regular fare on Air Asia X NRT-BKK would be around £300 in business, but this close in may be higher or sold out. Good photos of hard product on their web site. It is a goid deal if you can get it as economy fares on flag carriers will often be more. Another cash option is you buy Alaska MP miles in current sales to redeem on JAL from NRT or Haneda but check award availability on Alaska site first. For this option you are looking at about £500pp including cost of miles in current sale and reward fees. By comparison JAL or ANA one way cash fares typically run anywhere between £800 and £1500pp.

Thanks BJ. I had actually planned to use Alaska miles anyway if I needed to use JAL for the flight, although they are now almost entirely sold out which I thought was strange as there’s usually availability on that route.
Still considering options including Economy, or just talking the Mrs out of going entirely!
