Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Wish to book Funchal with points – flexibility of returning after 7 or 10 days?

  • 454 posts

I would like to make this booking, but wished to ask what is the best way to do this please?

Would it be sensible to book a return flight for a period of seven days, plus one extra homeward bound flight at 10 days or three single flights, with the option of just cancelling either day 7 or day 10 flights when our plans are more certain ?

I’m mainly asking as I am sure I read a comment under an article from Rob saying for Europe he now just books single flights and then cancels the ones he doesn’t want.

Booking the RFS fare at £2 is too heavy on miles for me, so I would probably book at the middle point, which I assume means If I cancel I will get a refund of £35 pp on the flight I cancel. This is for 2 people and no 241 involved.

Three single flights. Much, much easier.

And unless BA fixes their glitch, it will only be 50p per person to cancel no matter which price you choose.

+1 to what @Froggee said. I’m the same as Rob, especially as we often fly out on BA to enjoy the lounges and CE, then get an LCC direct back to MAN as we just want to be home asap.

Thank you so much. I couldn’t get my head round it, plus I was having problems with BA IT pricing up yesterday. Will give a try again today.

    Hi NorthernLass,

We are quite lucky as we have a lot of flexibility so can normally scoop up non-peaks. I just wondered if this was one of those flight where you needed call, but presumably not. It would hopefully be CE, although they seem to have changed it from Heathrow to Gatwick next year, but never mind.

We couldn’t get in the BA CE lounge when we went a fortnight ago as it was too busy, but they differected us to a different one, which was fine, albeit a bit mobbed.
