AA only release flights at T-330ish so you’d have to wait for them to become available. As you say, cash can be a good option as they don’t penalise you for booking one-way.

AGP/SVQ sound good, it’s handy that there are plenty of options down there. My preferred route for the region is actually GIB as it’s so quiet and you’re out of the airport about 10 minutes after landing, even with checked bags! I’m also curiously fond of GIB as a destination, I think people on here think I’m a bit weird, lol.

Also, have you looked if IB flies to the DR? You might get better options from MAD.

Thanks NL. Yeah Gib airport is pretty special. I think my record is 18 mins from touchdown to my front door. 🙂

Can/Will the BA staff be able to add the AA leg? I can’t get the BA site to show that leg regardless of date.

There is an IT glitch with some reward bookings atm, you will have to call to book it if they aren’t resolved.

You can book cash tickets via the AA site.

You won’t be able to add the connecting flight to a 241 booking as AA flights aren’t eligible. This is why there were so many comments about the pros and cons of connecting in the US. It would be a completely separate booking, so you’d need to factor in clearing immigration, collecting bags, etc as the connection wouldn’t be protected.

My preferred option is to have a 2/3 day stopover and make that part of the trip, though of course it depends how much time you have.

IB does fly to Santo Domingo so that might be another option.
