Marriott Rewards and Ritz-Carlton Rewards

Marriott Rewards is the loyalty scheme for Marriott, Renaissance, Ritz-Carlton, AC and Courtyard hotels amongst others. You earn points which can be used for free nights or transferred into frequent flyer miles including Avios points. The Ritz-Carlton Rewards is the same scheme but with a different membership card and different branding on its website!

I published an extensive two-part review of Marriott Rewards which can be found here and here. The latest promotions can be found on our 'Hotel Promos' page.

Which hotel schemes let you earn points and credit for multiple rooms?

If your travels take you to London City Airport or the Excel exhibition centre, you will be interested in a new rash of hotels which has sprung up in the area.  I popped down earlier in the week to take a look. If you take […]

My review of The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto hotel

This is my review of The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto hotel. As with my other Asia reviews this month, it is less comprehensive than usual.  We were not on a review trip, we did not get a hotel tour, we did not see other rooms apart from […]

What is the best hotel scheme? – Marriott Rewards – The Opinion

In my article yesterday, I outlined ‘the facts’ of the Marriott Rewards loyalty scheme. This article is my personal opinion, highlighting areas where I think you might want to focus. Important:  Marriott bought Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2016.  From 2018, Marriott Rewards and Starwood […]

American Express Platinum gains a SEVENTH hotel status partner, indirectly

(EDIT: following a comment below, I have reworked this article because my original merging of Marriott and Starwood benefits may have been confusing.) If you want to gain status at a number of hotel chains quickly, you have two options.  One is to start spending […]

Some lessons in redeeming miles and points from our Easter trip to Asia

If all goes to plan, we will be flying to Hong Kong next week for a whistle-stop tour of Asia over Easter.  Whilst there will, at some point, be a slug of flight and hotel reviews published, I thought I would do an introductory piece […]

Two things about Marriott Rewards that I am growing to love

Long-term readers of Head for Points will know that I have not been the greatest fan of Marriott Rewards although I have always acknowledged that people who commit enough to earn top-tier status (75 nights!) are well treated. My main problems have always revolved around: the […]

Bits: “AmEx Seeks to Weed Out Credit-Card Churners Chasing Rewards”, Marriott credit card returning?

News in brief: “AmEx Seeks to Weed Out Credit-Card Churners Chasing Rewards” Bloomberg ran this headline last week.  The good news is that it focuses on the US market and not the UK market although presumably the sentiment is a global one. The odd thing, […]
