Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club B777 (Gatwick) Premium economy

  • ap44 3 posts

I have Premium Economy seats on the BA Gatwick fleet in December (777/772).

Reserving seats – do the seats at the rear of the cabin have a limited recline? Or can all of them recline fully? (looking at the window seats, and am aware that it is over the wing).

SeatGuru suggests that they are okay – but wondering if anyone has flown in them lately and can confirm, or has full faith in SeatGuru

(I would normally not think twice – but on this occasion, my wife will have 11h to remind me she was right)

This is usually recommended for more up to date/accurate seat maps than seatguru.

All seats recline the same (in both PE and Y) … I have tried and tested that in multiple BA planes and never seen a difference in recline (for short hauls there may be a difference in some versions)

If you want to simply be able to recline and sleep the while flight then go for these. You obviously have the issue of people in front of you reclining.

The back row reclines fully. On an overnight when I just want to sleep, I would go for this (just be aware that the seat in front of you may be virtually in your face!) Any other row and you have to take into consideration whether the person behind you is eating, etc. I was in the front row on my last PE overnight, which was great for personal space but I had to wait an age for the person behind me to finish her meal so I could recline and go to sleep!

I am amazed anyone is still using Seatguru. But I agree with @yonasl and @NorthernLass the last row is decent if you want to recline without fear of impacting anyone else.

That’s incredibly thoughtful of you @NorthernLass. Rarely have I seen the person in front even look behind before jamming their seat back!

Another +1 for back row. Even when SeatGuru had said
limited recline, I never found this to be the case.

Thanks everyone – I can confirm that you are all correct.

I did notice the family of 4 in the middle seats commenting their relief that the seats fully recline, clearly had a similar concern to me.

Also echo the sentiments above on my reluctance to recline on a day flight, and having to consider eating patterns – the back row makes this much easier!
