Get 3,000 Virgin Points and 12 bottles of wine for just £66 with Virgin Wines

Virgin Red, the app which lets you earn and spend Virgin Points from non-flying activities, has launched a new offer with sister company with Virgin Wines.

Virgin Wines has partnered with Virgin Flying Club for a number of years, but the bonus on offer this month is higher than we’ve seen for quite a while.

The new offer is here.

Earn 3,000 Virgin Points and get 12 bottles of wine for just £66 via Virgin Wines

For £65.88 (standard price £139.88) you will receive:

  • 12 bottles of wine (a white, red or mixed case) and
  • 3,000 Virgin Points

Delivery is £7.99. (EDIT: The earlier version of this article was incorrect. If you sign up for Wine Bank then delivery is free – click here to see how that works – but Discovery Wine Club does not have free delivery. To add to the confusion, there is a bug on the Wine Bank page – the white case is wrongly charged whilst the mixed and red cases are free.)

If you ignore the value of the points, you are paying £6.15 per bottle for the wine, including delivery.

If you value the Virgin Points at £30 (1p per point), you are paying £44 net for 12 bottles of wine, including delivery, which is clearly excellent value.

Earn 3,000 Virgin Points and get 12 bottles of wine for just £66 via Virgin Wines

As part of the offer, you are signed up to the Virgin Wines Discovery Wine Club.  You can cancel this at any time, but you need to remember to do so or more wine will follow each quarter.

To quote:

“By redeeming the offer, you agree to try Virgin Wines’ Discovery Wine Club service. Every 3 months and at Christmas, they will offer you a 12-bottle case of their latest craft wine discoveries with at least a 15% saving on every case. There is no obligation to buy any more wine and you can change or cancel your Discovery Wine Club membership at any time.”

The bottom line is that you can easily cancel your membership by letting Virgin Wines know but it will require a small amount of effort. You will earn 2 Virgin Points for £1 spent at Virgin Wines on future purchases, either via Discovery Wine Club or separately.

This offer is only available if you are a new Virgin Wines customer.

You can find out more on this page of the Virgin Wines website.

No closing date is stated for the offer.

How does this work in Scotland?
The new Scottish Government MUP{ Minimum Unit Pricing) for alcohol means no bottle of wine can be sold for less than £6.40

    • JamieK says:

MUP doesn’t apply if the vendor is not in Scotland. Hence other wine clubs and Amazon etc can still deliver at much lower prices. A fairly substantial loophole…

  • Mikeact says:

The only way I could get free delivery, was emailing ‘help@virginwines.co.uk , with screen shots. Earlier, their chat facility were adamant, ‘delivery has to be paid for…talk to Virgin, we are a separate company. ‘
    Totally frustrating and ridiculous.

    • Rob says:

OK, we have now got to the bottom of this. There are TWO offers.

One signs you up to Wine Bank, where you pay Virgin Wines some cash each month and then spend it on wine whenever you wish. This is the version with free delivery.

The offer version, Discovery Wine Club, is the ‘case subscription’ version. This does NOT come with free delivery.

It’s the same wine at the same price (ignoring delivery) with the same number of Virgin Points which led to confusion.

      • SammyJ says:

When you click on the offer from the Virgin Red app or website, it offers 12 bottles of wine, 3000 points and free delivery for £65.88. But the £7.99 is then added on. There’s no option to select a Wine Bank offer rather than the offer that the link takes you straight to?

  • Mikeact says:

Look for the Wine Bank offer, not the Discovery offer….scroll down.

    • sammyj says:

It is the WineBank offer I’m on – there’s nothing to scroll through, the link from Virgin Red takes you straight to it
Virgin Red White WineBank Case plus Free Virgin Points
      £65.88

I think maybe it’s the White case that’s the issue? Live chat just saying this after going round in circles… e offer does come with free delivery however there has been an issue with this case so this as not been deducted. The only way to have this deducted is to order through myself or a colleague of mine so we can manually do this. You would need to pay via a card as we cannot process PayPal payments, this order would have to be placed by yourself to use PayPal so the delivery would be there. My best advise would be to give us a call on 0343 224 1001. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this.

  • sammyj says:

    I’ve solved it!

The Red and the Mixes cases get Free Delivery. You’ll get a little blue box after selecting it.

The White case doesn’t show the little blue box and is charging for delivery.

Mistake on the website it would appear.

  • lak says:

So is this a subscription or not? I’ve just ordered and got free delivery but no where did it say I’ve subscribed to receive a box per quarter and I can’t find anywhere to cancel it.

  • lak says:

So after my previous comment about whether this is a subscription or not. It seems that when you sign up for WineBank you sign up to £25/month being added to your account which you can use to buy wine. You have to call/email/live chat them to permanently stop this, or you can pause it for 3 months at a time.
