The threatened strike by Heathrow Airport staff, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, has been postponed.

The Unite union has suspended its industrial action whilst staff vote on an improved pay offer which has been tabled by the airport.  The new deal has not been made public.

Other planned strikes on Monday 5th August and Tuesday 6th August, and Friday 23rd August and Saturday 24th August, remain on the table.

These strikes have the potential to become more serious as fire and rescue workers have agreed to join the 4,000 security guards, engineers, passenger service operatives and passenger service drivers who are already due to take part.

This action is totally separate to the planned strikes by British Airways pilots.  There is also a chance that BA cabin crew may also strike, although their union is recommending an improved pay offer tabled by the airline.
