As a coda to our article on Saturday about the new Radisson RED at London Gatwick Airport, a reader flagged that the Four Points is now open.
Four Points by Sheraton London Gatwick is on Horley Row. The building has been closed since 2013, but it was previously the Menzies Chequers Hotel. It has also operated as a Thistle in the past.
The building itself dates back over 500 years in places, although some photos – not the one below – show an ugly 1960’s style extension. I’m not sure if this is still there but I doubt you would fit over 100 rooms into the building you see above.
This is the first Four Points to open in the UK. I genuinely don’t know what to expect – my mental image of a Four Points from trips to the US in the past is not great, but the public areas of Four Points London Gatwick looks good from the website.
“Touch down into opulence and comfort” is the tagline on the Four Points Gatwick website, which isn’t something you would say about most Sheraton properties let alone their nominally cheaper sibling.
If nothing else, it should be a cheap way of picking up some Marriott Bonvoy elite qualifying nights. We won’t be rushing to review this one, given that it is over two miles from the airport, but if the opportunity comes up we will take a look.
The Four Points by Sheraton London Gatwick website is here.

How to earn Marriott Bonvoy points and status from UK credit cards (June 2025)
There are various ways of earning Marriott Bonvoy points from UK credit cards. Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.
The official Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card comes with 20,000 points for signing up, 2 points for every £1 you spend and 15 elite night credits per year.
SPECIAL OFFER: Until 15th July 2025, the sign-up bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card is TRIPLED to 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.
