Earn 2,000 Avios with a £54 six bottle wine offer

We haven’t mentioned The Wine Flyer, the British Airways / Laithwaites wine business, for a while, but a decent offer has popped up this week for new customers.

£54, which includes delivery, gets you six bottles of red wine, 2000 Avios and two tumblers. You can’t argue with that.

There is no on-going commitment of any sort.

BA Wine Flyer

What is the Wine Flyer offer?

Wine Flyer is the trading name for the Laithwaites arm which offers Avios.

The latest offer is decent value. Note, however, that you must be a new customer to Laithwaites / Wine Flyer. This may, although it isn’t clear, include any wine you ordered via The Sunday Times Wine Club or any of the other Laithwaites co-brand schemes.

The Wine Flyer package costs £53.94 including delivery.

You receive the wine in the picture above, which is two bottles each of a “barrel-aged Rioja, luxury Aussie Shiraz and a dark, juicy original from Argentina”.

In total you get:

  • a six-bottle mixed case of red wine
  • two Dartington tumblers
  • free delivery within three working days
  • 2,000 Avios

You are not signing up for any club or subscription service. It is a one-off deal.

If you value the 2,000 Avios at £20, and you put no value on the tumblers (although Dartington products are generally good quality), you are paying £5.66 per bottle. You can’t really argue about value for money on that basis.

You can order on the Wine Flyer website here. The offer runs to 30th June.

  • TimM says:

A tumbler is a flat-bottomed glass you might drink whisky or a cocktail out of. The glass shown is a red wine glass designed to be filled to the widest point.

    • Nick says:

Really?! Wouldn’t it be rather stupid to show 6 bottles of wine with two tumblers?

      • Nick says:

        …filled tumblers!

      • JDB says:

Wine tumblers are becoming increasingly standard!

        • Lumma says:

Yes, this will come with “wine tumblers”, they’re like a wine glass shape but with a flat bottom and no stem.

They’re a bit rubbish for both wine and other drinks, quite difficult to clean by hand too

          • ThinkSquare says:

My Mrs swears by Laithwaites’ wine tumblers as gin glasses. I agree they are pretty useless for wine.

I can vouch for the three wines here being worth drinking.

    • ChrisC says:

Well blame laithwaits because that’s their description of them.

I’m more bothered that there isn’t a similar offer for whites or rose.

  • Sideshowbob says:

    Shame it’s not white wine

  • Charles Martell says:

Is there any chance this triggers the 20% rebate from Curve or 40 nectar points per £ on nectar connect for Laithwaites purchases? Becomes irresistible at that point.

    • Brighton Belle says:

Laithwaites not on my paid Curve so must be targeted somewhat

    • Paul Benny says:

Also 10% back at Airtime Rewards – but that’s not compatible with Curve. Might stack with Nectar Connect, though.

      • MD says:

Why would Airtime Rewards not be compatible with Curve?

        • Paul Benny says:

As I undertand it, AR see the transaction as just being with Curve not the underlying retailer. Would be delighted if that turned out to be wrong!

      • Kiran_mk2 says:

My Virgin Atlantic Mastercard also has 20% back at Laithwaites. I imagine this would double up with Airtime Rewards 10% back. Can’t see anyway to ‘activate’ the Virgin offer so assume it just works?

  • Roger W says:

A decent rate using a NatWest Bank card too if you get NatWest Current Account rewards.

I usually mix up a discount code from Bluelight NHS card with NatWest Reward or if there is an Amex code at the time.

    Decent wine too😀

  • yorkieflyer says:

Mmm can’t remember if Mrs Yorkieflyer has taken up one of these offers, think I have

  • Adam says:

Just ordered mine. With the Curve 20% off, so should work out about £3.80 a bottle taking the 2000 avios into account. Also paid using my Barclays AVIOS `card to should get Avios for that also. Winning all round.

  • ChrisC says:

20% rebate on MBNA as well.

    Not that I’m partaking – I don’t drink red!

  • Richie says:

Looks like HfPers will be enjoying Coq au Vin soon.

    • Charles Martell says:

Vivino ratings (if I’ve matched the right wines):
      Waxed Bat Reserve 3.9
Barón de Barbón Rioja Reserva 3.9
      Black Stump Reserve Shiraz 3.9

      Not terrible.
