Marriott has opened a new The Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York. The brand new The Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad complements the existing property on Central Park.
(The earlier ‘new build’ The Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York, near Battery Park, was rebranded some years ago at The Wagner Hotel. It appears to have permanently closed during the pandemic.)
If you haven’t stayed at one before, The Ritz-Carlton is one of Marriott’s most luxurious brands. It has an interesting and storied history, starting in the late 1800s with hotelier Cesar Ritz. Our The Ritz-Carlton guide and reviews are here.
The hotel is a new build and rises 150 metres over New York’s Madison Square Park neighbourhood, spanning 50 storeys. As one of the tallest buildings in the area it should have good views.
There are 250 rooms including 19 suites, as well as 16 additional one and two bedroom penthouse residences, with bathroom amenities by Diptyque.
A new rooftop skybar called Nubeluz will also open with 270-degree views, plus a a handfu of restaurants including one from José Andrés. A The Ritz-Carlton club lounge and spa round out the offering, although there is no pool.
Prices start at a crunchy £1,000+ per night with redemptions between 96,000 and 120,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. If you’re curious you can find out more on the hotel website here.
