Inverness Airport inaugurated its new railway station on 3rd February.

It sits on the Inverness to Aberdeen line, close to the site of the former Dalcross station. The project involved the construction of a new 950-metre passing loop, the renewal of seven kilometres of track and the installation of a new signalling system.

However, it doesn’t appear to be very close to the actual terminal building. According to the airport website:

The Number 11 bus run by Stagecoach  provides a link between the station and the terminal building, services operate every 30 minutes. There is a charge applicable to this service.

The station is also connected to the terminal building via a walkway. It is well lit and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to walk.

This doesn’t seem as practical as it could have been ….
