Plum Guide home rentals to join Global Hotel Alliance
Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission. See here for all partner links.
Global Hotel Alliance is on a bit of a roll at the moment. Only a month after adding the respected Lore Group hotels, including Sea Containers in London, it has signed a deal with home rental group Plum Guide.
This isn’t a full integration – you won’t find the 38,000 Plum Guide rental options added to the GHA website – but it is a good result for anyone who is a member of the GHA Discovery loyalty programme.
In summary, for new rentals booked from 1st March:

- you will receive 5% of the ex-tax value of your Plum Guide rental back in DISCOVERY Dollars. DISCOVERY Dollars are worth $1 each and can be spent at check-out at any GHA hotel.
- the 5% figure is fixed for all GHA Discovery members and does not change if you have elite status (the usual rate is 4% to 7% as we show below)
- you cannot redeem DISCOVERY Dollars for Plum Guide home rentals
- your stay will count towards GHA Discovery status, irrespective of how you earn it (the three routes are by annual spend, by number of nights or by number of brands – your Plum Guide home rental will count towards all three metrics)
How does the GHA Discovery loyalty programme work?
GHA Discovery is a decent loyalty programme which we covered here.
Instead of points, you earn DISCOVERY Dollars. 1 DISCOVERY Dollar is worth $1 off a future stay.
Here is the full list of benefits online but in summary:
- Silver is the entry level, given to you immediately when you sign-up. This is well worth doing because it gets you access to member-only rates, free internet and 4% back in DISCOVERY Dollars.
- Gold requires just two stays or $1,000 of spending but has no real additional benefits, except that your cashback increases to 5%
- Platinum is their mid-tier status given after 10 nights in a year or $5,000 of spending or, more easily, staying at two different brands. Platinum gives you extra benefits on top – an upgrade to the next room category, a local amenity, 3pm late check-out and 6% back in DISCOVERY Dollars.
- Titanium status requires 30 nights, $15,000 of spending or, more easily, staying at three different brands. You receive an 11am check-in, 4pm late check-out, a double upgrade, a welcome amenity and 7% back in DISCOVERY Dollars.
The Plum Guide website is here. You can add your GHA Discovery membership number during the booking process.
