You will receive DOUBLE British Airways Executive Club tier points

As we’ve written about before, one of the most attractive benefits for Executive Club members of booking with BA Holidays has been extended until June 2025.

If you book a ‘flight and hotel’ or ‘flight and car’ package for 5+ nights via British Airways Holidays, for travel completed by 30th June 2025, you will receive double tier points on your flights.

This is an exceptional opportunity to earn or retain British Airways Executive Club status. For example, take two Business Class 5+ night breaks to cities earning 80 tier points each way (such as Malta or Athens), and you’d have 640 tier points. This gets you Silver status in Executive Club, getting you benefits such as lounge access and free seat selection when flying BA or a oneworld partner.

(Here’s the maths. Longer European routes earn 80 tier points each way in Club Europe business class – here’s a list compiled by HfP of cities which count. This means 160 tier points return, which is doubled to 320 tier points under this offer. Do two trips and you’d have 640 tier points. The qualifying level for Silver status is 600 tier points.)

There are two things to note about the double tier points offer:

  • you must book flights which carry a British Airways flight number – codeshare flights are acceptable but only if your booking shows a BAXXXX flight number
  • whilst your booking must contain at least five nights of hotel or car rental, your overall stay can be longer

Full details of the ‘double tier points’ offer can be found on the British Airways website here.

We ran this HfP article which covers the small print of the double tier points offer in detail, although the key points are the two listed above.

Why book with BA Holidays?

As well as making a saving on the cost of booking your flight and hotel separately (in some cases, a package may be less than a standalone flight!), there are some other important benefits when you book via BA Holidays:

  • you only need to pay a deposit now with the balance not due until 5-7 weeks before travel – this is a real benefit compared to a ‘flight only’ booking where you need to pay upfront
  • you earn 1 bonus Avios for every £1 spent at BA Holidays – for clarity, this is on top of the usual Avios earned from your flights
  • you earn double Avios (3 per £1) on your payment to BA Holidays if you use a British Airways Premium Plus American Express credit card
  • as we covered above, you can earn double tier points on your flights if you stay for 5+ nights

You can also use Avios now to pay or part-pay at BA Holidays – see our article here. You can part-pay with Avios alongside the extra savings available this weekend.

Remember that BA holiday sale deals must be booked by 30th April to take advantage of the additional discounts.

  • David Meyer says:

    Hello,
I’m trying to book CW flights for the autumn DUB-LHR-LAS-LHR-DUB

The BA flights I want are £325 cheaper booking on aa.com than on ba.com

Other than not getting as many Avios for using my BA Amex card, is there any catch? They appear to be identical seats. Would I get the same Avios and Tier points if I credit the flights to my BAEC number?

    Thanks in advance.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

      Yes to TPs

Avios may be awarded based on the old distance system as BA may not see the fare you paid AA to give you based on the new cash one.

      • Qrfan says:

That’s not the case. BA see the price and award accordingly for AA marketed flights. I’ve booked and flown AA fares with the GBP spend showing in the ba app afterwards. It even says so on the BA website: “What’s more, this change to the way you collect Avios also applies to flights marketed by American Airlines and Iberia”

  • Phantomchickenz says:

And of course Virgin have now launched a sale too.

  • 4hawks says:

Hi Rob I think you can now see how much the flight element costs on BA holidays. On the BA app once your tps are credited if you click on that entry you see the price paid and it shows the Avios awarded calculated by reference to that amount eg x9 for Gold

    • Rob says:

BA Holidays is not meant to award Avios based on ticket price, it is meant to continue awarding them under the old structure based on your status, the distance and ticket class.

      • EvilDoctorK says:

On a recent datapoint … BA holidays trip booked with IB flights on BA codes … posted with eligible spend info and Avios calculated from that ( definitely was as holiday booking as got the Double Tier Points)… so in my case at least they seemed to use the new Avios calculation based on spend

Was slightly to my disadvantage, but I care more about the double TPs and the fact they posted them all after April 1st despite only the return flights being in April

  • Chris says:

Checked the BA Hols US pages on this and don’t see anything equivalent. As the double-TP promo seems to operate both ex-UK and ex-US out to 30June2025, would be good to know if similar ‘extra-savings’ have been rolled out for fresh ex-US bookings made in the run up to 30Apr2024.

  • Mike P says:

The Double Tier Points deal encouraged us to book two holidays with two more in the pipeline for later this year. However, seven weeks after we got back, one phone call and two emails have failed to see the double points materialise on our homeward flight. BA’s silence is deafening!

  • Ram says:

    Team!
Is the flight component of BA Holidays considered as ‘Eligible Flight’ to upgrade from Bronze to Silver status ?
