United Airlines launches Wrexham FC-branded amenity kits

We’re used to seeing tie-ups with major brands for airline amenity kits, whether it be The White Company for British Airways or Armani / Bulgari / Acqua di Parma etc for the Middle Eastern and Asian carriers.

United Airlines has gone one step further, however, with a new limited-edition Wrexham AFC amenity kit and matching pyjamas.

United Airlines Wrexham pyjamas

This is to celebrate Wrexham’s recent promotion to League One and United’s ongoing shirt sponsorship of the team.

The amenity kits, filled with Therabody products, will roll out from 1st June in business class. Passengers in Premium Plus will receive a reusable zipped amenity pouch. The pyjamas will available to business class passengers on flights of 14+ hours – which admittedly is a small number!

I like the idea of football-related airline pyjamas. I gave my son a Qatar Airways World Cup-themed set after my last trip and he is still keen on them. What your average United Airlines passenger makes of a Wrexham-branded amenity kit is a different question.

How to earn Star Alliance miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Star Alliance miles from UK credit cards (April 2025)

None of the Star Alliance airlines currently have a UK credit card.

There is, however, still a way to earn Star Alliance miles from a UK credit card

The route is via Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty points convert to over 40 airlines at the rate of 3:1.

The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is via the official Marriott Bonvoy American Express card. It comes with 20,000 points for signing up and 2 points for every £1 you spend. At 2 Bonvoy points per £1, you are earning (at 3:1) 0.66 airline miles per £1 spent on the card.

There is a preferential conversion rate to United Airlines – which is a Star Alliance member – of 2 : 1 if you convert 60,000 Bonvoy points at once.

The Star Alliance members which are Marriott Bonvoy transfer partners are: Aegean, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Avianca, Copa Airlines, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines.

I’m not sure what event is causing hotel prices in NYC to be super elevated in early June (nearly £500 for a 14 square meter room at a Moxy!) however look forward to giving the rebranded Luxury Collection hotel a try in a week with more reasonable room rates

    • Man of Kent says:

Some of the T20 Cricket World Cup matches are being played in New York (Long Island) next month but I’m not convinced it would drive hotel prices that much.

      • Momomo says:

It’s a pretty big deal. And there’s a massive diaspora of south Asian and Carribbean descent across North America (and Europe), with New York quite accessible.

    • Sean says:

NY hotel prices are fairly crazy most of the time regardless now. $500+ a night for average hotels is fairly standard.

  • TGLoyalty says:

    Wrexham FX?

Also the name might be because there’s already a Tribute Hotel in the pipeline called “Manhatten Midtown Hotel” maybe it should’ve gone back to The London.

The Chatwel used to be in the Luxury Collection didn’t it? Left recently? I definitely recall it on hotel searches.

    Beyond horrendous amenity kit.

  • Michael C says:

Talk about niche! Those pjs will appear on Ebay in the years to come!

Hoping for my son’s sake that BA follow suit and start doing a Tampa Bay Rays set…

  • Gordon says:

Yes, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are doing well, as far as the team goes!

Extremely lucrative marketing deals and now selling off chunks of the club will be wonderful.

OK so Wrexham are doing very well out of it too AT THE MOMENT.

    Hi all
Please can I check that about a Qatar booking I am about to make from Milan to Phuket in business to get my 560 BA tier points. Do I just book as usual on the Qatar site and put in my BAEC number? I DO NOT join The Privilege Club? Many thanks in advance.

    • conspicuous-capybara says:

Yes, that should get you the tier points automatically. Keep a hold of your physical tickets (or a photo of them), because in the unlikely event that they don’t post automatically, that makes it easier to reclaim them afterwards.

  • Euan says:

I think the Wrexham hype is bigger in the US than here. Basically Ted Lasso season 4 for them.

    • paul says:

I do think they’re missing a marketing gimmick though – the show is expletive-laden yet US “soccer” is still very much a family sport – they should release two versions of the TV series; one with the bad language and another with bleeps.

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

“The pyjamas will available to business class passengers on flights of 14+ hours –“

LOL so anyone flying US-UK to come and watch a Wrexham match won’t get these!
