If all goes to plan, ‘The Reach at Piccadilly’ hotel will open in Manchester tomorrow.

The hotel is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute portfolio. This is a sister brand to Autograph Collection, aimed at 4-star hotels which want to be part of the Marriott ‘system’ whilst retaining a higher level of independence in how they operate.

The website is here.

The Reach Manchester hotel opens

The hotel is described as being 90 seconds walk from Piccadilly railway station, whilst also being ‘adjacent to the calm of the Rochdale Canal’.

The dining options look interesting. To quote:

Our chefs pride themselves on keeping it local and have created menus with a variety of delicious ‘small plate’ dishes, using ingredients from the finest producers in the city. These include our very own Lock 84 IPA, specially brewed by Salford’s Seven Bro7hers craft brewery and Ancoats Coffee, which is roasted just a few steps from the hotel.

In terms of rooms:

Inspired by Manchester’s industrial heritage and our canalside location, the stylish bedrooms have been designed with both elegance and comfort in mind. The finest cotton, wool and timber – natural materials traditionally transported via hand-crafted narrowboats along the Rochdale Canal during the Industrial Revolution – have been used to create modern, functional spaces that are luxurious yet sustainable.

Forget traditional fluffy robes and slippers. Our bedrooms feature elegant furnishings with all the mod cons, such as deluxe espresso coffee machines, usb-c charging ports and superfast wifi.

Pricing at The Reach looks good. I could see dates in July where it is as low as £96.

Let’s see what the early feedback is like. It will face competition literally around the corner from the new Manchester Marrriott Hotel Piccadilly, which is the refurbished Macdonald property.

No football on on July. You need to check a Saturday night during the football season to get a true idea of hotel prices in Manchester (and Liverpool for that matter).

    • WilkoBRFC says:

Is the ‘true idea’ of hotel prices in Manchester really based on the 38+ days a season that the two big clubs are at home, rather than the 300+ days a year that they aren’t?

    • TGLoyalty says:

Strange comment. That’s the peak demand pricing not the usual pricing. What are you expecting the hotel to give rooms away when demand is high? The very definition of dynamic pricing. Let them make profit off the concerts / football so those of us that like to visit at quieter times can have lower rates.

  • MT says:

Been keeping an eye on this property and while I think it will look good the room size and also small beds make it pretty much a no from me. Sandwiched between Residence Inn & Marriott it will have to be competitive on prices when there are not things on, but once the football season starts it will be a different matter!

  • Danny says:

    Green walls with orange bedding?

  • Johnie says:

Voco Belfast opened over the weekend as well (formerly Radisson Blu). Around £110 weeknights, a bit softer price wise than expected.

  • Panda Mick says:

    Diagonally Opposite Doubletree, and Malmaison

For runners, this part of manchester is amazing, as the Rochdale Canal runs under the hotel and is an amazing run. However, the Ashton Canal has a lot more industrial heritage on show. Bit more of a PITA to run along, though
