You may have forgotten that Groupon exists but it is still alive and kicking and has some decent travel offers on it.

The home page for Groupon’s UK travel deals is here.

Let’s look at some examples:

The Dilly hotel discount on Groupon

London hotel deals

Remember that you won’t enjoy any status benefits (or earn points) when booking hotels through third party travel agents such as Groupon. That means you can stay at hotels you might not normally consider, such as The Dilly, now a five-star hotel after being rebranded and refurbished from its previous life as part of Marriott’s Le Meridien brand.

The Dilly benefits from being a heritage hotel – having opened in 1908 – but with a fully renovated interior which was completed during covid. It is located just round the corner from Piccadilly Circus.

Sunborn Yacht Hotel deal on Groupon

Another unique experience is the Sunborn Yacht hotel, which is moored by the ExCel centre, near Custom House DLR/Elizabeth Line stations.

Sunborn is a purpose-built floating hotel and offers something a bit different to your run-of-the-mill property. The location also makes it very convenient for central London, without having to stay in Zone 1 itself.

We have previously reviewed its sister ship in Gibraltar.

The Groupon deal includes overnight accommodation as well as breakfast for two.

Airport lounge discounts on Groupon

Lounge access deals

If you don’t have lounge access included with a credit card, then Groupon is offering 25% off lounges at 20 UK airports including Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester and Newcastle.

The deal is in partnership with third party Sky Parking Services and requires you to buy a £2 voucher which you then redeem when booking your lounge access.

A single £2 voucher will get you 25% off up to seven people on the same booking, so the more of you the better!

A quick glance on the Sky Parking Services website suggests that entry to the Clubrooms (with tableservice) at Gatwick costs £46. Factor in the 25% discount and you only pay £34.50, a saving of £9.50 when you factor in the cost of the voucher in the first place. The more people you book for, the more you save.

Vouchers are valid until 30th November 2025 so there’s no rush to use them.

…. or go on a surprise holiday

For something a bit different, you can also try Groupon’s mystery holidays with a range of destinations available for 2+ night holidays in Europe and further afield for £89 per person, including flights and hotel.

Itineraries are split into three tiers: 6 longer long-haul trips, 12 medium-haul packages or more expensive destinations (such as Disneyland Paris) whilst ‘tier 3’ holidays are 2-night stays to European cities.

The top destinations include:

  • 7 nights in the Maldives
  • 7 nights in Cancun
  • 7 nights in Thailand
  • 3 nights in New York
  • 3 nights in Las Vegas
  • 3 nights in Dubai

The packages include flights from most UK airports, although I imagine you need to be flying from London for some of the more exotic / unusual locations. Non-London airports incur an additional charge of £40 – £60.

The deal is administered by Weekender Breaks. Once you’ve purchased your voucher on Groupon, you need to redeem it by filling out the form with your preferred dates and departure airport. You’ll know where you’re going within 72 hours.

New customers get 15% off

Groupon is also offering a 15% discount to all first-time users. All you need to do is use the code ‘WELCOME’ at checkout.

The deal is valid for local deals, which includes everything from spa and beauty treatments to sightseeing tours, gyms, restaurants bars and more.

The maximum discount is £50, which you would get on a voucher spend worth £330.

You can see all of Groupon’s current travel deals on this page of its website.

The holidays raffle thing is a bit weird – I might not want 6 nights, and 2 nights in many of these places is one night too short. If it was guaranteed exactly 3 nights it would be great.

  • The Original David says:

I like the idea of the mystery holiday, but it seems you buy it thinking you could get a week in the Maldives, and you’ll most likely end up with a 6am Ryanair from Luton for a 2 night break in an Ibis Budget on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Dusseldorf. Have I misunderstood?

    • R001 says:

I’ve got a warehouse on the outskirts of Dusseldorf. Could be quite handy (Luton aside)

    • NigelHamilton says:

I very seriously considered setting up a mystery holiday company (thankfully I didn’t because COVID would have bankrupted me!) All the market research said people would do it for a 2-3 night break in Europe (actually, 2-3 nights in Duesseldorf would be a great trip, check out ‘ The Fritz’ boutique hotel). As you can have a good time in any city if you’re adventurous enough to accept your don’t choose the destination. But a 7 night holiday is too long to leave it in someone else’s hands – if you didn’t like the location, it’s a lot of money to drop.

  • Alan says:

The lounge discount is a faff and not the cheapest. For Heathrow T5 Plaza Premium. You can get entry for 2 via get your guide for £72 and via BA get 9 Avios per pound. The price with this site is £94 before discount so take off £22.50 add on the £2 group on charge and £73.50.

Maybe it works out differently elsewhere or different dates.

Sign up or buy anything via Groupon and your email account will be all but destroyed IME

    • Andrew. says:

They are quite persistent with their attention seeking, but just set up a separate folder/sub folders for Groupon content. They are very consistent with the email addresses they use. I’ve got my UK, USA, and Canada folders.

Given the content, I do wonder if there’s a market for opening up a Brazilian waxing salon inside a Jiffy Lube station in the USA, especially if you could pick-up a memory foam mattress at the same time.

        💯

This. The only lasting impression Groupon has made on my consciousness is “broken links to unsubscribe”

  • daveinitalia says:

Last time I looked you also got Avios for buying stuff in Groupon from the BA shopping portal and probably other similar portals run on behalf of VS, IB, EI and others

  • Gordon says:

I would dive into the mystery holiday raffle, if these were J seats?

    • memesweeper says:

I suspect in a Venn diagram of “people who spend money on business seats for leisure” and “people who will take a random holiday at a 2/3* hotel anywhere due to very low pricing” the overlapping area is very small.

      • Gordon says:

Agreed yes, but it was a tongue in cheek comment?

        • Peter K says:

Was it? Sounded like you were genuinely interested if they were J seats.

          • Gordon says:

Yes it was, sounded? I didn’t speak a word? I’m a seasoned traveler, so even I know that that would not be possible at the price?

  • Erico1875 says:

My nephew did one of these mystery trips. Was Toulouse.
They arrived at 11pm on the Friday and return was around 7 AM on the Sunday, so they basically got 1 day in the city, with an early bedtime.

Using Skyscanner, i think you could put something better together if you can be flexibke

    • TGLoyalty says:

Was thinking that for 3 nights in Dubai

You’ll basically land at 11pm on night 1 and probably leave at 9am after night 3 get 2 days in the suburbs 30 mins from a beach … great way to spend 14 hours in economy

  • Alex Sm says:

If something sounds too good to be true it is likely to be so 🤓
