Virgin Atlantic partner Delta Air Lines is in the process of rolling out free wifi across its global network.

Whilst it has offered this domestically for some time, a few weeks ago it said it would expand the benefit internationally.

The good news is that flights to and from the UK are amongst the first to enjoy this, with free wifi rolling out on all of Delta’s UK flights “beginning in August”.

This includes:

  • London to Atlanta
  • London to Boston
  • London to Detroit
  • London to Minneapolis
  • London to New York
  • London to Orlando
  • London to Salt Lake City
  • London to Seattle

And, elsewhere in the UK:

  • Edinburgh to Atlanta
  • Edinburgh to Boston
  • Edinburgh to New York

Delta is calling it “reliable, streaming-quality connectivity”. The service will be provided by Viasat through its geostationary satellite constellation, the latest of which have a capacity of more than one terabit per second.

Most transatlantic routes are expected to be in service “by the end of the summer”.
