This is our review of the Capital on Tap Pro Visa credit card.

Capital on Tap – a small UK payments card company which I admit you may never have heard of – runs the only small business Visa credit cards which can earn you Avios points.

You earn 1 Capital on Tap point (worth 1p cashback or 1 Avios) per £1 you spend.

As an added benefit, these are the ONLY Avios-earning credit cards in the UK which do not charge foreign exchange fees when used abroad.

In this article I will explain all you need to know about the Capital on Tap Pro Visa card and who can apply. The application form is here. There is an exclusive higher sign-up bonus for our readers.

There is a cheaper (£99) card, Business Rewards, with fewer benefits but the same impressive ‘1 point per £1’ earning rate. Our review of the Capital on Tap Business Rewards Visa card is here.

Who is Capital on Tap?

Whilst you may not have heard of Capital on Tap, it already has 120,000 customers across its existing ‘no rewards’ payment card and the Avios products.  This card, launched in 2018, was its first move into the rewards market.

You can find full details on their website here

Your interest rate is based on your business profile and can be as low as 15.22% APR variable.

This article was updated on 1st December 2024, and all of the information is correct as of that date. Ignore the original publication date shown.

Who can apply for the Capital on Tap Pro card?

The two Capital on Tap Visa cards are the only way to indirectly earn Avios via a small business Visa or Mastercard credit card.

The Capital on Tap cards are aimed at limited companies and LLPs.  It is not currently accepting unlimited partnerships or sole traders.

A minimum turnover of £24,000 is required.

If you do NOT have a limited company, our recommended choice for a business Visa or Mastercard credit card is Barclaycard Select Cashback. It is free for life and you get 1% cashback on your spending. Our review of the Barclaycard Select Cashback credit card is here and you can apply here.

What is the sign-up bonus on the Capital on Tap Pro card?

We have an exclusive reader offer on the Capital on Tap Pro Visa card.

You will receive a sign-up bonus of 10,000 Capital on Tap points when you spend £5,000 in your first three months, which converts into £100 cashback or 10,000 Avios.

You receive an additional 500 points for applying via our link, giving you a total of 10,500 Capital on Tap points.

The bonus arrives at the end of your fourth billing period, irrespective of how quickly you spend the £5,000.

Going forward, you earn 1 Capital on Tap point (worth 1p of cashback or 1 Avios) per £1 spent.

There is an annual fee is £299 which is tax deductible.

What are the benefits of the Capital on Tap Pro Visa?

Let’s look at the benefits of the Pro card in detail:

Airport lounge access via Priority Pass

Most HfP readers will be familiar with Priority Pass, which gets you access to 1,600 airport lounges globally.

Importantly, this is a ‘full fat’ Priority Pass which INCLUDES the £18 airport restaurant credits – unlike any Priority Pass issued by American Express.

There are many airport restaurants (the UK list is in an article here) which offer £18 off drinks or food to Priority Pass members, but American Express has opted out of offering this. The Capital on Tap Pro version lets you tuck in!

Additional guests can join you in a lounge for £20 each per visit. This is automatically charged to your Capital on Tap Pro Visa account balance as a card transaction. This is £4 cheaper than the guest fee charged by American Express.

TOP TIER hotel status with Radisson Rewards

This is VERY interesting, and may justify the cost of Capital on Tap Pro on its own.

There are many credit cards which offer hotel elite status – this HfP article contains a full list. However, none of them offer TOP TIER status.

With Radisson Rewards VIP status, you have the highest publicly available status level.

Radisson Rewards VIP status is hard to earn on its own. You would need to stay 20 times or complete 30 nights in a calendar year to get it, which isn’t easy given the Radisson footprint.

The benefits are:

  • Upgrade to the best room category available at the time of check-in – this does not usually include suites but some properties do offer this
  • Free breakfast for two
  • Access to VIP lounges and other areas which some hotels reserve for VIP cardholders
  • Earn 36 points per $1 of pre-tax spend (vs 8 points per $1 for a no-status member)
  • One free piece of ironing per stay (selected brands only)
  • Early check-in and late check-out if available
  • 15% off food and drink spending
  • Access to ‘Discount Booster’, allowing you to receive an additional cash discount on your booking – up to 20% – in return for earning a lower rate of points

Free breakfast alone would save you £40+ per day for two people and the upgrade to the best available room category at check-in isn’t to be sniffed at.

What other benefits does the Capital on Tap Pro Visa card have?

The following benefits apply to both the new Capital on Tap Pro Visa card (£299) and the Capital on Tap Business Rewards Visa card (£99):

  • They are Visa cards. Capital on Tap credit cards are Visa cards, making them the ONLY Visa or Mastercard cards that allow a business to earn Avios (and, of course, are much more widely accepted than American Express for B2B transactions).
  • You earn 1 Capital on Tap point per £1 you spend on your card
  • The points are instantly redeemable, which means that as soon as your card transaction clears you’ll see your points and can spend them
  • You can preload your account so you can spend beyond your credit limit if you have a large purchase
  • You won’t pay FX fees abroad or if you pay for anything in the UK in another currency. These are the only Avios-earning credit cards, personal or business, which do not charge foreign exchange fees when used abroad.
  • You get quick points transfers to Avios.  Capital on Tap has virtually instantaneous transfers of points into Avios.  They reach your British Airways Executive Club account as soon as you’ve completed a transfer from your Capital on Tap account.
  • You can cash in your points. If you decide you don’t want any more Avios at any time, Capital on Tap will let you cash-in your non-transferred points for 1p per point of real money. If you choose to redeem your points for cash instead of Avios, you should take tax advice on how the cash should be treated – HMRC does not tax points or miles.

Is it worth getting the Capital on Tap Pro Visa?

If you have any sort of limited company which would allow you to qualify for the card, I think you need to have a serious look at Capital on Tap.

You need to decide whether you prefer the £99 Business Rewards card (review here) or the £299 Pro card. As both cards have the same ‘1 point per £1’ earning rate, it depends on how much you value the additional benefits of Pro.

You also need to remember:

  • the £299 annual fee for Pro is a tax deductible expense so the net cost to you will be lower
  • the card has no FX fees
  • 1 Avios per £1 is a great return from a small business Visa or Mastercard

Conclusion

If the Capital on Tap Pro Visa card sound interesting for your business, you can find out more and apply on their website here.

You can also apply for the Business Rewards Visa card via the same link if you feel that this will work better for you.
