Accor Diamond members gain access to Fairmont Gold hotel lounges

Accor Live Limitless has quietly rolled out a new benefit for its Diamond members.
Whilst both Platinum and Diamond members of Accor Live Limitless get free access to the club lounge if they are staying at a Sofitel or similar high end brand, Fairmont Gold lounges were excluded.
There was a precedent for this. Marriott Bonvoy does not allow elite members to access the executive lounges at The Ritz-Carlton hotels.
The justification is that these lounges are well above the standard of a typical hotel lounge (most offer five food presentations per day, with free flowing self pour champagne) and carry a substantial extra charge when paying cash.
The rule has now changed for Diamond members of Accor Live Limitless. As you can see from the list of Accor Live Limitless member benefits here, Diamond members can now access Fairmont Gold lounges.

The only three I have visited in recent years – Fairmont Royal Pavilion Barbados (review here), Fairmont St Andrews and Fairmont Windsor Park (review here, image above) do not have them, so I don’t know what you’re missing!
Diamond status in Accor Live Limitless can only be earned via spend, not nights, and requires €10,400 of pre-tax qualifying spend in a calendar year. One upside of pushing for Diamond if you are close is that Accor operates a soft landing system which guarantees you a year of Platinum status afterwards. Platinum still offers decent upgrades and access to most club lounges.
