Virgin Atlantic unveils its new Los Angeles Clubhouse

As we reported in July, Virgin Atlantic is building a brand new Clubhouse lounge in Los Angeles. It has now released some images of the new space.
News of the lounge initially leaked in official airport documents, where the lounge was rubber stamped by the Board of Commissioners. The document revealed that the new Virgin Clubhouse would be a $2 million renovation of the former Etihad Lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal: a relatively small 408 square metre space.
Rent for the space comes to approximately $1.2 million per year, which shows just how expensive these facilities are to operate.
This is the first new Clubhouse for Virgin Atlantic in, I think, a decade. In Virgin’s own words:
“The Clubhouse will feature Virgin Atlantic’s signature touches including an expansive bar and social area with table service dining options, exclusive spaces – including a VIP Booth dubbed ‘The Royal Box’ – and flexible seating areas in which to work, dine and connect.”
Key features include mood lighting to simulate a California sunset which you can see in the video below:
In addition to the bar, dining area, work booths and seating areas the LA Clubhouse will also offer shower and changing facilities. These are particularly useful for the late-night departures typical of the US when you’ve spent your last day out and about.
Virgin’s Los Angeles Clubhouse is due to open in Q1 of 2025, so anytime before the end of March.
It will be the fourth Clubhouse in the United States, in addition to those at New York JFK, San Francisco and Washington Dulles. Virgin Atlantic previously had a Clubhouse in Los Angeles Terminal 2 between 2015 and 2021, at which point it was subsumed by a Delta Sky Club.
Access rules for Virgin’s Los Angeles Clubhouse
Unlike the Heathrow Clubhouse, the LA Clubhouse will also be open to other SkyTeam elites. Here are the full access eligibility requirements:
- Passengers flying in Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic + one guest travelling on Virgin or Delta
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold card members + one guest, when travelling internationally on Virgin Atlantic or Delta
- Delta One customers on a Delta Air Lines flight
- SkyTeam Elite Plus members travelling on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight plus one guest travelling on an international flight operated by a SkyTeam airline
If you are connecting domestically then you must be travelling the same day on the same itinerary and ticket.
