You really should have a Qatar Airways Privilege Club account if you don’t already, as it allows you to earn Avios from additional global partners, unlocking a world of travel experiences for members.

How do you join Marriott Bonvoy?

You can join Marriott Bonvoy and earn your 250 Avios in Qatar Airways Privilege Club via this link.

All it requires is your name, email address and your Qatar Airways Privilege Club number.

You will receive your 250 Avios within 60 business days.

Why should you join Marriott Bonvoy?

This is a very good opportunity to join Marriott Bonvoy if you don’t already have a membership.

Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel programme and marketplace, gives members access to a portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, with approximately 9,000 hotels including W Hotels, JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Moxy Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott and more. Whether you are looking for a luxury resort, a home rental for a family break, or a city base to work from you will find a Marriott Bonvoy option for you.

The collaboration between Marriott Bonvoy and Qatar Airways Privilege Club also gives you the opportunity to transfer points.  Members can convert three Marriott Bonvoy points for one Avios, and for every 60,000 points transferred you receive 5,000 bonus Avios.

Rob reviewed Marriott Bonvoy in detail here.

This article also explains about the different elite status levels in Marriott Bonvoy, from Silver all the way through to Ambassador. Complete enough nights each year and you get benefits such as free breakfast, guaranteed 4pm check-out, upgrades and much more.

You can fast-track your way to Silver status simply by taking out the £95 Marriott Bonvoy American Express credit card – it comes with 15 elite night credits each year which is enough to immediately get you to Silver.

We have reviewed a lot of Marriott Bonvoy hotels on HfP in recent years if you search through our full hotel reviews index here.

In the last year alone, we have reviewed Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly, Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood, Domes Novos Santorini (Autograph Collection)Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place, Sheraton Grand Krakow, Westin Grand Frankfurt, Dorothea Hotel Budapest (Autograph Collection), Marriott Berlin, The Shanghai EDITIONThe Ritz-Carlton Shanghai PudongHotel Imperial, a Luxury Collection Hotel, ViennaThe Ritz-Carlton ViennaWestin Yilan in TaiwanW TaipeiHotel Alfonso XIII, a Luxury Collection Hotel, SevilleRenaissance London St PancrasMandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in BaliThe St Regis Jakarta and Fairfield Jakarta Airport.

One thing to note ….

There is one bit of small print. Your new account will be set up to earn Avios (in Qatar Airways Privilege Club) rather than Marriott Bonvoy points on your future Marriott stays.

However, if you would prefer to collect Marriott Bonvoy points then you can change this in your account settings after the bonus has arrived.

Earning Avios from your stays is probably better for you, however. You are clearly not someone who stays regularly enough at Marriott hotels to build up enough points for a free night, or you’d already be a member! Taking Avios (most brands earn 2 Avios per $1 spent, pre tax) is cleaner.

The offer ends on 31st December 2024.

@Rob – This is basically the same as the promotion for 250 Avios you revisited in July. But with that one you only needed a BAEC account.

    • Rob says:

I am aware 🙂 The BA version is now over though.

      • JohnH says:

If you previously “joined” Marriott before to pick up the 250 avios via BAEC you need to use a different email address to “join” here. The +1 addition to a previously used gmail address works.

I’ve got Amex Plat but haven’t yet signed up to Marriott (to get Gold status?). Would signing up via the Qatar link have any adverse impact rather than via Amex?

This is an import thing to note. I had my MB a/c set to earn AA miles, to help keep my AA account alive. But when I tried to register for the recent earn 2000 points for a 2 night stay promo, it said I wasn’t eligible. Changed it over to earn MB points and it was happy. I can send the points over manually to AA later.

This is scraping the barrel somewhat. I can’t imagine anyone values their time so little to faff around with this for a measly £2.50 reward?!
