Get 3,000 Virgin Points and 12 bottles of wine for just £66 with Virgin Wines

Virgin Red, the app which lets you earn and spend Virgin Points from non-flying activities, has launched a new offer with sister company with Virgin Wines.

Virgin Wines has partnered with Virgin Flying Club for a number of years, but the bonus on offer this month is higher than we’ve seen for quite a while.

The new offer is here.

Earn 3,000 Virgin Points and get 12 bottles of wine for just £66 via Virgin Wines

For £65.88 (standard price £139.88) you will receive:

  • 12 bottles of wine (a white, red or mixed case) and
  • 3,000 Virgin Points

Delivery is £7.99. (EDIT: The earlier version of this article was incorrect. If you sign up for Wine Bank then delivery is free – click here to see how that works – but Discovery Wine Club does not have free delivery. To add to the confusion, there is a bug on the Wine Bank page – the white case is wrongly charged whilst the mixed and red cases are free.)

If you ignore the value of the points, you are paying £6.15 per bottle for the wine, including delivery.

If you value the Virgin Points at £30 (1p per point), you are paying £44 net for 12 bottles of wine, including delivery, which is clearly excellent value.

Earn 3,000 Virgin Points and get 12 bottles of wine for just £66 via Virgin Wines

As part of the offer, you are signed up to the Virgin Wines Discovery Wine Club.  You can cancel this at any time, but you need to remember to do so or more wine will follow each quarter.

To quote:

“By redeeming the offer, you agree to try Virgin Wines’ Discovery Wine Club service. Every 3 months and at Christmas, they will offer you a 12-bottle case of their latest craft wine discoveries with at least a 15% saving on every case. There is no obligation to buy any more wine and you can change or cancel your Discovery Wine Club membership at any time.”

The bottom line is that you can easily cancel your membership by letting Virgin Wines know but it will require a small amount of effort. You will earn 2 Virgin Points for £1 spent at Virgin Wines on future purchases, either via Discovery Wine Club or separately.

This offer is only available if you are a new Virgin Wines customer.

You can find out more on this page of the Virgin Wines website.

No closing date is stated for the offer.

  • Andy McGarrie says:

I tried this offer but it was charging me for delivery even though the offer states free express delivery. I added my Virgin Red ID before checking out?

    • sammyj says:

It’s not working properly, and the edit Rob has made has confused the matter even further as that’s not the issue (although possibly a different issue) – click through from the Virgin Red app, select the 12 bottle half price, 3000pt, free delivery offer. Select either the Red or Mixed case, but not the White.

When you click through it will show a blue promo box, which only appears on those two cases – glitch/error for the Whites means it doesn’t work. If you want the white case, speak to them on Live Chat on the virginwines site and they’ll apparently refund the delivery fee afterwards.

  • Swiss Jim says:

‘Clearly excellent value’. That really does depend on the quality of the wine. Each to their own.

  • jj says:

To be fair it’s excellent value even if the wine is just used for cooking. Unless, of course, you never cook with wine – although given how many Mediterranean dishes are improved with a splash of wine, that would be very odd.

    • TimM says:

Only ever use the best wine for cooking!

      • Russell G says:

True, I’ve just ordered a DRC La Tache for next Tuesday’s lunchtime spag bol, I’ll leave the Lidl’s own brand red blend for pairing.

  • TimM says:

Also faced with £7.99 delivery charge. “Plus Free Virgin Points” but does not say how many. The value equation has gone negative.

    • Rob says:

Bizarre. It is very clear from the Virgin Red landing page that ‘express’ delivery is free – and indeed always has been on previous iterations of this deal.

      • Alex_A says:

Looking at the offer page right now, and see no mention of free delivery, or the word “express.” I do see that the T&C’s state, “P&P costs £7.99.”

Maybe they’ve just updated the page to fix an error?

  • AndyG says:

If I go via the link in the email I get charged delivery. If I go via the Virgin Red app I don’t. So might be worth trying that

  • Bervios says:

Delivery is free for me – I think you might have to access the offer from the virgin red app though.

    • Alex_A says:

Is it the Discovery Wine Club offer that is showing you free delivery? Or the Wine Bank offer? Both seem VERY similar, but the Discovery Wine Club offer (which the above link is taking me to) does not seem to include delivery.

      • Reeferman says:

Same for me – a £7.99 P+P charge in the Virgin Red App too

      • AndyG says:

I did the Virgin Red Mixed WineBank Case plus Free Virgin Points for £65.88. Got free delivery on app

  • Nigel spencer says:

Delivery is £7.99 unless you pay a monthly subscription

  • Steve R says:

where does it say you will get 3000 points or do I need specsavers

    • Rosco says:

After the order is placed. It shows at the bottom of the order.

    • Rosco says:

It also shows in the confirm and pay box.
Total price £73.87 and underneath it says 3130 Virgin points

      • Steve R says:

        thanks

      • sammyj says:

Contact them for a refund of the delivery fee, assuming it was the WineBank offer you took on the White case. It should have been free.
