Cinnamon Hotels joins Global Hotel Alliance

Global Hotel Alliance, which operates the loyalty scheme for 45 hotels brands including Kempisnki, Anantara and NH, had added a new brand – Cinnamon Hotels.

Cinnamon Hotels is based in Sri Lanka and runs 17 hotels and resorts across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. To quote:

We wrote an introduction to the GHA DISCOVERY loyalty scheme here. Whilst it is a cashback-based loyalty scheme, we recommend it for three reasons:

• you can get top tier elite status with GHA by staying at just three hotels in a calendar year, as long as each is with a different brand

• hotels generally respect the status – I had some excellent upgrades last year, including the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul (Kempinski), reviewed here, which ended up being named my ‘hotel stay of the year’ in my year-end round-up

• whilst the loyalty scheme is cashback based, regular bonus promotions mean that you can earn large sums – a Titanium member (top tier, can be done in three stays) gets 7% back, for example, but a triple points promotion lifts that to a whopping 21%
