News in brief:

How to transfer Radisson Rewards points to Avios

On Monday we told you that Radisson Rewards was dropping Avios as a transfer partner on 30th September.

I said that, for a few years (!), it had been impossible to transfer Radisson Rewards points to Avios online. You would always get an error message on the website.

Obviously our readers had already found the solution!

This is what you need to do:

  • Go to ‘My Profile’
  • Go to ‘Radisson Rewards Preferences’
  • Go to ‘Earning Preference’ and select ‘Air Miles’
  • Add your British Airways Club number – it will be accepted with no error message
  • Go through the process of redeeming to British Airways. Whilst you are still asked to input your British Airways membership number as usual, it will NOT trigger the error message.
  • IMPORTANT: Unless you want to earn Avios instead of Radisson Rewards points for future stays, ensure that you go back into your profile and change your ‘Earning Preference’ back to ‘Radisson Rewards points’

I have tested this and it works. What I don’t know is how long it takes for the points to reach your British Airways Club account. It is certainly more than two days because mine haven’t arrived yet.

Remember that transfers to Avios must be initiated by 30th September.

Hyatt Regency Nice to close for seven months and change brands

I have a soft spot for the Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée hotel in Nice.

It is constructed behind the facade of a theatre, giving a unique exterior look. It was one of the first places I visited with my (now) wife when we first met, and is a hotel I had seen being constructed on earlier trips. Originally operated by Concorde Hotels, it joined Hyatt in 2013.

I was last there in 2023 and wrote a review of my sea-facing suite here, a fantastic upgrade due to the Hyatt Globalist status I had at the time.

The hotel has announced that it is closing on 18th October for a seven month refurbishment. This seems short notice, given that it had been taking bookings for this period until a few days ago.

When the hotel reopens, it will be part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand. This will bring it in line with Hotel Martinez in Cannes, its sister property. It will hopefully allow for a more creative refurbishment now that it isn’t tied to the ‘business hotel’ standards of Hyatt Regency.

I look forward to checking it out next year.

I cleared out my Radisson account to avois on Monday using the workaround and the points hit my BA account yesterday, so took 3 days.

If I’m thinking of transferring Amex points over to Radisson, any way to check how many points I need for a redemption? Whenever I do a dummy booking it only seems to show me the cash amount! Do I need the points first before Radisson reveals their hand?

    • Lumma says:

I believe it’s roughly 0.15p per radisson point for when you redeem them for part payment against a room, rising to 0.2p per point when redeeming in full

      • Kwab says:

Cheers. Think I remember you “winning” a prize at a Xmas party years ago!!!

      • Rob says:

Yes, think of a sliding scale from 0.15p to 0.22p based on the % of the room rate paid.

Using 100,000 points for a £1,000 room and you’ll get £150 off. Use 100,000 for a £225 room and you’ll get £220 off, give or take.

Only worth considering as an Amex transfer if you are settling the full room rate.

I didnt realise my post about how to workaround the IT issue was that significant! Your welcome!

  • Scottpat78 says:

Similar experience for me – transferred on 1st and points arrived 4th Sept. Thanks again Matt.

  • QFFlyer says:

They transfer very quickly, I had 2,000 Radisson points I’d forgotten about and moved them. I’m sure there were a lot more options when I last looked – I also thought I’d moved all my points into Radisson Americas->Choice Hotels and on to Qantas as some bonus rate ages ago, so my memory is clearly clouded.

  • MrWhite says:

3 days to transfer my Radisson points too using the method above. Thanks again to Matt B as I’d had no luck with customer services previously.
