Get £75 back on a £300 spend at selected UK hotels as ‘Amex Stays’ returns

American Express has brought back ‘Amex Stays’, a generous cashback offer covering 50+ UK hotels and a handful of rather random European and New York properties!
This is totally separate to the multiple ‘big brand’ hotel cashback deals that American Express runs and which I expect to reappear soon.
Importantly, pre-paid hotel rooms WILL count for the offer. This allows you to book during the relatively short offer period and stay later.
There is a dedicated Amex Stays website here.

It’s a simple deal:
- you will receive £75 cashback when you spend £300 IN ONE TRANSACTION with a participating hotel
- the rules on how many times you can earn the cashback are messed up. It says ‘once per each of the 42 hotels’ but the list is longer. Looking at the PDF list, it seems that the Thistle hotels are grouped together so you can only earn there once. However, that would still leave 51 hotels, not 42. I would be VERY wary about trying to earn the cashback twice at brands with multiple participating hotels under the same brand name, eg Clermont, Jumeirah.
- the offer runs until 16th November 2025
- pre-paid AND ‘pay on departure’ bookings count, so pre-paid online bookings for future stays are ok as long as the charge is taken by 16th November
- you need to opt-in for the offer via the ‘Offers’ tab of your card
- you will need to be an ‘eligible’ cardholder to see the offer – we’ll assume that Marriott Bonvoy American Express cardholders won’t be included. I only had it under my Business Platinum card, oddly, despite my wife and I both having our own personal Platinum cards.

Which hotels are participating?
There is a PDF showing participating brands here.
Here are some of the notable brands, but for the full list click the link above. To add some value, I’ve listed the loyalty programme each is associated with and a link to any HfP review.
For me, the key opportunity would be for anyone working towards Global Hotel Alliance top tier status which only requires stays at three different brands. With quite a few GHA hotels taking part – albeit some are part of the same brand, so be careful – this offer would be a way of ticking a brand off and would potentially double up with any GHA promotion running, such as the current ‘double DISCOVERY Dollars’ offer.
Some of the independent hotels listed may be bookable via World of Hyatt or Hilton Honors as part of their Mr & Mrs Smith or Small Luxury Hotels partnerships. Do check before booking.
