Gdansk is one of my favourite places to be and I’m planning to spend some more time there again this summer. It doesn’t really matter where you stay – you’ll get an excellent welcome and most hotels are very central. Out of Hilton and IHG, I have only previously stayed at the Hampton by Hilton Old Town, which was very good and I would happily stay at again. The Hilton Gdansk (which I have visited, but not stayed at) has a great location and the rooftop bar has lovely views. The swimming pool is also on the same level. Although I haven’t stayed there (IHG lost our business a good few years ago), the City Centre Holiday Inn has a great location and is well reviewed. As Hilton Diamond, I’d expect you to get better benefits with them than IHG, but if the HI rates were better that could swing your decision. Either way, you’re in a great city with friendly people.

As far as things to do in the town, there are plenty of museums to investigate and I highly recommend a tour of the Gdański Teatr Szekspirowski – not many modern theatres in the world are as interesting as this one. If you’re into Football Stadiums it could also be worth checking out the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, home of Lechia Gdańsk.
