If you like museums you’ll be spoiled for choice. If you’re happy with lots of walking, it’s fun to wander around spotting the iconic sights like the Abraham Lincoln memorial, White House etc. Take plenty of water out with you, we were there one August and it was tropical!

Arlington Cemetery is also very interesting with JFK’s grave and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

I don’t know if you’ve used DCA before but one thing we found out was that the hotel shuttles often don’t start running till 6 am, which is no use if you’ve got a very early flight. Fortunately we were staying at the HGI virtually across the road so a taxi was cheap and quick.

It’s a great city and we’re going back in December to see it at Xmas. Planning to visit Mount Vernon then as well; OH went a few years ago while on a work trip and brought me the most beautiful Christmas tree decoration from the gift shop (I collect them from each place we visit).
