Having said that, I do like the look of the Indigo Katong for something small & cute!

I’ve done a couple of stays at the Indigo Katong in recent weeks. I rather like it. The rooms are quirky but comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast is a highlight (especially if you get it free from status). I’m a little ambivalent about the location though – there’s not really a huge amount within walking distance (the beach/park, a couple of hawker centres, and a few streets of ‘heritage’ shops and cafes that soon wear a bit thin) so you’ll probably go into town anyway, in which case might as well stay somewhere more central. If you just need somewhere to overnight between flights but don’t want to stay at the airport itself, the Indigo’s a pretty good choice I think (although I probably only saved 10 or 15 minutes cab ride versus being in town; might be worth noting that the Holiday Inn Express is literally next door in the same building). Not sure Katong merits a multi-night stay though, unless you need to be in that area specifically, or the price is substantially less than the more central options. But in itself, a very nice hotel, I thought.
