Thanks guys, have submitted my claim via BA so will see what they come back with, might end up with more money back than what i paid!
Also on my account today now shows me as silver so buzzing for that as it applied avios and tier points on my LAX to LHR, nothing yet for the LHR-GLA. Now i can book my seats for free on my existing 2 bookings i have 😎
As the reimbursement for the downgraded domestic flight will be so little, yet you have benefitted from the Avios and tier points by mistake it seems incredibly unwise as it will cause someone to look at your account and potentially spot the error. The delay compensation is different.
