Depend what kind of holiday you want, if it were me i would advise, If you can, stay 1 night in cancun to acclimatise,
then get a bus from Cancun to Merida, stay 2 nights there, then head to the small town of Sisal( for beach) so much more civilised than Cancun/Playa/Tulum.
Busses are very much improved in Yutucan area so very easy.
