I found my free night certificate by chance when logging on to my IHG account. It was very close to expiry so booked something which I now can’t make. IHG will now not move it as it has expired and the hotel are referring me back to IHG Rewards. Is my only option to cancel it and lose it?
Try contacting the hotel and see if they can do anything, such as move the stay to a date that works.
I had this happen when i couldn’t stay due to contracting COVID, for a booking on the expiry date of the voucher. The hotel (not IHG global) wouldn’t move the stay, but did give me some points as compensation. This was far less than the value of the forgone stay , but better than nothing.
