Yes, you can book short-haul connections but you get hammered for maximum avios on all the legs. Or are you travelling at peak skiing time so cash flights would be astronomical?
I’m not getting great value but flying from Manchester and I need to go on that specific date so BA or LH the only options. Cash fares are currently cheap in economy and if you compare to that, I am getting awful value. But J fares are dear so vs that value is not too bad. For Europe, I’d never pay for business so based on that, I should really compare value to economy but I’m just going to enjoy business and take the hit I think. It’s probably not worth it though really.
2 J are coming in at £600 o/w Vs 37000+£2 so value is OK.
2 Y though is £280 with luggage so I guess value is poor there. There is also a chance I need to cancel so I guess the flexibility is worth something.
