Each to their own but I much prefer the food on BA and definitely prefer one long flight rather than stopping half way in Doha.
To confirm your view, the food on QR is infinitely better! Setting aside any personal preferences, my issue with BA long haul food is that it is systematically defective – uncooked pasta, split sauces, burnt vegetables so that a carrot looks like a vanilla pod, meat such as chicken so overcooked that it’s hard and fibrous and more. They overpromise with an elaborate menu but under-deliver. The food on return flights is usually worse than ex-LHR, including terrible plastic cheese. Plus the wine on BA is atrocious vs QR which offers wine two shelves and price brackets above BA. I just love flying so two flights are better than one, but this is definitely not my wife’s view.
Stretching one’s legs and terrestrial comforts of various types is a big plus, but that does depend on route and flight timings
