I looked at insure and go. They say the “trip” (not flight) must start (and end) in your home country. So however you get to Dublin, your trip is starting in NI.
I think the same is applicable with Amex Plat insurance – after all, one is covered on the way to the airport (which, since I live on an airfield, I could actually fly, although most people will take ground transport!)
You are absolutely correct to be nit-picking with the wording. Well done!
ps In true HFP fashion, you could fly Belfast-LHR-Dub and then DUB-USA!
