If the first couple of comments on an article point out minor typos, allowing them to be corrected, I’ve always seen that as regular readers being helpful in polishing up the article library – same as articles often get minor tweaks or further edits from the goldmine of information in the comments.
Frankly, I’m a bit peeved that no-one pointed out the misspelling of Taipei in an article headline until it was flagged above!
