From the recent VS flight I took to MIA, the two premium cabins had all or most seats booked by around a month out and Y was very open with not many seats at all selected. Y was the same even a week before departure. However on the flight I took a stroll to the back and Y was almost full. Seems not many Y travellers pay to assign seats. Knowing this, I wouldn’t!
