There’s been plenty of discussion, and several people have been told by BA CS staff that soft landings will remain, though of course that has no enforceable weight.

I’m hoping it’s one of the rolling back elements Rob keeps teasing us with recent allusions to. Originally I should have been at least Silver until August 2027. This then changed to April 2027. Then if BA does bin soft landings, I will drop to Blue in April 2026! Which would suck a bit, though I can’t get too stressed about it until we have more certainties, to be honest.

In the meantime, I am working my gold status until at least 30/4/26 with multiple economy trips via the LHR F lounges. (Apologies, @JDB, and in mitigation neither OH nor I actually eat or drink that much compared with other lounge users we’ve seen). Free seat selection and extra baggage are the status perks I actually value the most.

I guess if I end up back as blue, I’ll probably use our avios and annual 241 for an F trip starting somewhere in Europe and get the perks anyway, and direct cash spend at airlines which serve MAN better than BA does. And VS points/voucher, of course.
