You can pay more than you realise with Amex. On the subject of PayPal, always check whether you can pay your council tax this way – I do, despite the council website only accepting MC and visa. It’s a lot easier than Pay Point sounds as well; I just pay it in 2 or 3 installments for the year.

I also had a chunky vet’s bill earlier this week. Our local branch purports not take accept Amex but I’m currently spending towards the 241 so I had look on their corporate website and they do accept it for online payments. I knew what the final bill was going to be so I made the payment and it was accepted – when I went to collect our hapless moggie I just told them I’d paid online. They tried to argue that this wasn’t possible either, but when they checked their system the payment was there so they couldn’t really take issue with that!
