I missed the 100k Avios bonus, any insights as to whether it might return? Holding off on the ‘regular’ bonus for the moment. Thanks
If it does, it won’t be for a while.
You need to remember that – because Avios were awarded after 4 months – they are STILL treating the Oct/Nov one as ‘active’. It won’t be until May that they can finally put the previous version behind them, at which point they will presumably rethink.
As readers found, it also put huge pressure on branches because of the requirement for many people to do ‘in person’ ID checks. Some people in London who applied in November were getting appointment dates in February, so their 4 months won’t end until June/July! All promos involving Premier seem to be on hold because they can’t get around this issue.
Also worth noting that, thus far, nobody (to my knowledge) has received the 100k yet . Even those of us that were accepted at the beginning of October…..

Hopefully this is the kick up the arse Barclays need to sort their process out; it’s archaic as hell and is particularly poor for an institution cutting back their branch network so heavily. Smacks of cakeism.

I’m in this position – applied for a joint account and my wife only managed to get her ID checks sorted a couple of weeks ago (apparently mine were fine). Not heard anything since though – is that usual or should I chase up? I have a feeling the 100k will be hard to come by but let’s see…

What’s your current thought on this please @Rob? I’ve just had the bumper 50k Avios sign up bonus, will probably stay to get an upgrade voucher, but then will be ready to either close this card or close my Amex BAPP. But if the 100k offer returned, it would make a lot of sense.
I wonder if there is an article to do on which to stick with, or whether to hold both?

Rob has written many articles where he mentioned he has held the BAPP for a long time. And get a lot of value from 241 I think it depends on your personal circumstances and numbers. A few things to think about:
– can you afford both cards
– do you have enough spend that accepts card per year (20k) to trigger both vouchers
– are you able/ have enough holiday plans to use 2 vouchers per year
– do you earn enough avios to use 2 vouchers per year
– if you cancel either card will you qualify for it again next time – amex has brought minimum income back in.
I used to do a lot of cancelling and waiting for new bonus as I need the bonus to earn enough to use the vouchers but with no pro rata refund and new minimum income my earning strategy needs a massive revamp and I’m finding I might keep some cards.
– also a few people have mentioned by closing down their BAPP they lost their 241. Neither Rob or Rhys have commented on that thread (last time I checked) so very hard to know how worried we should be. But if you have an unused voucher just bear that in mind.

Do you have a link to this?
I’ve never noticed a credible example of it in the forum – so interesting if true.
