Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club 2-4-1 Amex voucher vs. Barclays Cabin Upgrade Voucher

Rob, please if you can direct me to the discussion board and delete this if there has been other discussion about this already.

Just a simple dummy booking as we are looking to use voucher for flight to Zone 8, less than 7000 miles:

Barclays Cabin Upgrade voucher, it would cost me 140k avious (peak, 2 pax) one way for Club world (i.e. paying PE avios)
Amex 2-4-1 voucher, would cost me 105k avios for same as above, but paying only for 1 pax.

Not talking about surcharge here as I think they are the same for any vouchers.

Am I missing anything? I am trying to understand if there is a way to make use of Barclays voucher but it is just not useful in my practice. We have 1 Barclays voucher and 2 Amex voucher.

Which route is that, those avios prices are rather confusing?
Which type of Amex voucher have you got (new or old) One way of getting round the issues with the BC voucher would be:
    1. Use BC upgrade voucher for outbound leg as it’s only valid for UK departures.
    2. Use (new) Amex voucher for the inbound journey, then the second “half” of the Amex voucher for another ex-UK trip which fits with the open jaw rules at some time in the future. This might take a bit of faffing around and calling BA but would mean getting maximum value out of the 2 vouchers.

Hi Anna, I was looking at UK to EZE outbound and SCL – UK inbound. We have a little one so want to do this before he turns 2. I will try your combo above to maximise the value.

I like the Point 2 you made. I have never thought of that but to tag this future inbound (UK – somewhere) along with the SCL-UK it would mean the destination has to be rather close to SCL or at least no further than the LHR-SCL distance. So will be something like North America or Mexico I guess in which we do not mind but I guess it is something we have to commit.
