Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club 2-4-1 voucher booking – name change (marriage)

  • 3 posts

My wife and I are planning a trip next xmas using the 2-4-1 voucher, but I just noticed that the T&Cs say that you can’t change the name.

We got married last year but she hasn’t yet changed her name (we travel frequently so there hasn’t been a good time) however we will be grounded for a bit next year (new baby) so she plans to change her name before we travel.

It feels like the rule is meant to catch people changing the actual person on the booking, not someone who happens to have a change of name.

Has anyone had this situation (married, divorced, etc) and how did BA handle it?

In the old days, you used your old passport and a copy of the marriage certificate. Call BA – not a problem. Still same DOB etc. Worst case scenario they will want a photo of the marriage certificate.

But absolutely nothing to worry about!

You can also have put in her new passport on the observations page “this person is also known as miss jane doe” where doe is her maiden name.

Yes you can do it no problem, I did it last year because there was reward availability I didn’t want to lose.
Send an email to basupport@email.ba.com asking them to name change because of marriage and tell them the PNR’s.
Include a scanned attachment of marriage certificate and new passport.

It takes them a week or two but will do it.

There is a web form for changing names on accounts.

    https://ukprepin.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/278/~/updating-my-name-on-my-executive-club-account

Or accessible from the personal details section of her BAEC account.

I think you can do it just by uploading a copy of the marriage certificate rather than passport. But it’ll take less than a minute to check.

Even if they want a passport to action the change that won’t prevent you booking under her new name now.

Use her married name in the booking as though she was an entirely different person and then later once new passport has been issued and BAEC updated associate her BAEC number with the existing booking.

Also check out the maternity / paternity benefit where they will extend status
